Position Summary
The Kitchen Cleaner is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the entire kitchen. This includes cleaning commercial kitchen equipment, refrigerators, freezers, sinks, floors, walls, storage areas, and food preparation stations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining food safety standards and ensuring the kitchen is ready for the next day's operations.
Essential ResponsibilitiesKitchen Equipment Cleaning
- Deep clean fryers, including exterior surfaces and fryer doors
- Clean wok stations, burners, stove tops, and surrounding surfaces
- Clean rice cookers and rice warming equipment
- Clean food warmers and sauce warmers
- Wipe down prep tables and stainless steel work surfaces
- Clean shelving, carts, and storage racks
- Clean freezer and refrigerator interiors and exteriors
- Remove grease buildup from kitchen equipment
- Pull equipment away from walls to thoroughly clean underneath and behind it
Facility Cleaning
- Wash and sanitize kitchen walls
- Clean splash guards and backsplash areas
- Sanitize all kitchen sinks, including the three-compartment sink
- Clean drains as directed
- Sweep and mop the entire kitchen
- Clean corners, baseboards, and hard-to-reach areas
- Empty trash and replace liners
- Break down cardboard and maintain dumpster area cleanliness
- Keep walk-in cooler and freezer floors clean and organized
Sanitation & Food Safety
- Use approved cleaning chemicals safely and correctly
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures
- Report maintenance or equipment concerns immediately
- Help maintain compliance with local health department regulations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Organization
- Keep cleaning supplies stocked and organized
- Organize storage areas as needed
- Ensure equipment is returned to its proper location after cleaning
- Assist with additional cleaning projects assigned by management
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds
- Bend, kneel, squat, reach, and climb as needed
- Ability to work in hot, wet, and fast-paced kitchen environments
- Comfortable using cleaning chemicals and commercial cleaning equipment
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant or commercial cleaning experience preferred, but not required
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Must be dependable and arrive on time
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
