Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to assume the role of Supervisor within our healthcare organization. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care. As an RN Supervisor, you will oversee nursing staff, coordinate patient services, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities
- Supervise nursing staff to ensure delivery of comprehensive patient care in accordance with organizational policies and standards.
- Coordinate patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and medical documentation to support accurate clinical evaluations.
- Oversee medication administration, IV infusion procedures, catheter care, and other clinical interventions with precision and adherence to protocols.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, and safety guidelines to protect patient confidentiality and well-being.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and case managers to develop effective discharge planning and treatment strategies.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation, scheduling, and reporting purposes.
- Provide mentorship and supervision to nursing staff, fostering professional development and team cohesion in fast-paced environments such as ICU or emergency departments.
- Conduct regular audits of medical records, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and utilization review processes to optimize patient outcomes and regulatory compliance.
Skills
- Extensive experience with Epic EMR systems or similar electronic health record platforms such as eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth.
- Critical care experience in settings such as ICU, Level I Trauma Center, or Level II Trauma Center environments.
- Proficiency in managing complex clinical procedures including ventilator management, spinal taps, cardiac catheterization, and sterile processing techniques.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation methods relevant to acute care and geriatrics.
- Demonstrated leadership in supervising nursing teams within hospital medicine or long-term care facilities such as nursing homes or assisted living communities.
- Familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems for accurate medical documentation and billing purposes.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics (PICU), neonatal ventilator management, dementia care, behavioral health, and patients with developmental disabilities.
- Ability to perform physical examinations, specimen collection/processing, phlebotomy (venipuncture), suturing, and basic life support (BLS).
- Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, airway management strategies, and pain management practices.
- Strong organizational skills in discharge planning, utilization management/review processes, case management activities, and triage procedures.
