Position
Abiding Savior Preschool seeking a passionate and energetic Preschool/Pre-K Teacher for the 2026-27 school year.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that the classroom provides a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment for each child, where self-concepts are enhanced, independence is encouraged, individuality respected, and a love of God is fostered.
- Design and implement dynamic curriculum plans that incorporate literacy education, math concepts, science, etc.
- Create a safe, inclusive classroom environment that encourages positive behavior management and active participation from all children.
- Conduct regular assessments to monitor childhood development progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote physical education, social skills, and cognitive growth.
- Collaborate with parents and guardians through clear communication about each child’s progress, behavior, and developmental milestones.
- Manage classroom routines efficiently to foster a structured yet flexible learning atmosphere conducive to exploration and discovery.
Qualifications
The candidate must have and meet one of the following qualifications:
1. License from the Minnesota Department of Education for Prekindergarten Associate; OR a certificate or credential for a two-year program from an accredited community college or technical college in child development or early childhood education.
- Experience: 1,040 hours as an assistant teacher, aide or student intern
- Education: six quarter credits
2. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in any field
- Experience: 1,040 hours as an assistant teacher, aide or student intern
- Education: 18 quarter credits
3. License from Minnesota Department of Education for prekindergarten/nursery, or a license from Minnesota Department of Education for elementary education with a kindergarten endorsement
- Experience: no additional experience required
- Education: no additional education required
Skills will include but are not limited to:
- Proven experience working with children in preschool or daycare settings, including classroom management and lesson planning.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood education principles, childhood development stages, and behavior management techniques.
- Familiar with curriculum development, literacy education, and kindergarten readiness.
- Certification in early childhood education is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with parents, colleagues, and support staff.
- Demonstrated commitment to child welfare, safety protocols, and creating an inclusive learning environment.
Work periods
- The Abiding Savior Preschool program follows a 'school year' schedule and is not in session during the months of June - August.
- Our current Preschool/PreK program offerings are Monday - Friday, 9AM - 12PM. Staff are expected to be on-site 8:30AM - 12:30PM.
