```Job Overview:
Join a Creative Fine-Art Production Studio
Old Town Editions is a digital printmaking studio specializing in fine-art reproduction, large-format printing, and the digitization of artwork and artifacts.
We are seeking a careful, creative, and dependable Fine Art Print Technician to help produce high-quality paper and canvas prints for artists, photographers, galleries, collectors, and other clients.
This is a hands-on production position for someone who enjoys working with both technology and physical materials. You will use Photoshop, operate professional printing and imaging equipment, digitize artwork, varnish and stretch canvas, prepare orders, and help ensure that every piece meets our quality standards.
Experience with large-format printing is preferred, but training on our specific equipment and workflow will be provided. We are especially interested in candidates with strong Photoshop skills, excellent attention to detail, good visual judgment, excellent customer service skills, and a genuine interest in art, photography, or printmaking.
Duties:
- Operate large-format inkjet printers to produce fine-art paper and canvas prints
- Prepare digital files for printing using Adobe Photoshop
- Perform retouching, cropping, resizing, and print layout
- Inspect prints for consistency, image quality, and physical defects
- Cut, package, and prepare paper prints for customers
- Varnish, trim, and stretch canvas prints
- Operate digital artwork-capture and film-scanning equipment
- Handle artwork and customer materials carefully and professionally
- Perform routine printer maintenance and assist with equipment troubleshooting
- Monitor printing supplies and help maintain inventory
- Keep production areas clean, safe, and organized
- Assist with basic customer service, order processing, and office responsibilities
- Work with the team to complete projects accurately and on schedule
What We’re Looking For
- Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
- Excellent color perception and visual judgment
- Comfort working with hand tools, cutting equipment, canvas, and paper
- Ability to follow production procedures and accept constructive feedback
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Dependability in a deadline-oriented production environment
- Availability to work Saturdays; weekday scheduling has some flexibility
Experience with large-format inkjet printers, print production, photography, graphic design, fine art, framing, scanning, or color management is helpful but not required in every area. We encourage applicants with transferable skills and a willingness to learn to apply.
This position may be a strong fit for a photographer, studio artist, graphic designer, printmaker, framer, photo-lab technician, sign-production worker, museum-preparation professional, or recent art-school graduate.
