Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and creativity
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in the kitchen
- Select fresh ingredients and ensure proper storage to preserve quality
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate service flow during busy hours
- Develop new sushi recipes and presentation techniques to enhance menu offerings
- Educate team members on sushi techniques, ingredients, and presentation standards
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and minimize waste effectively
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role in a fast-paced restaurant environment preferred but beginners willing to learn are welcomed.
- Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, knife skills, and ingredient handling
- Experience working with fresh seafood and understanding of food safety regulations
- Familiarity with menu development, plating presentation, and creative arts in culinary settings
- Prior experience teaching or mentoring junior kitchen staff is a plus
- Background in culinary arts with specialization in Japanese cuisine preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage time efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
