Senior Buyer
The senior buyer is responsible for the full procurement cycle—sourcing, negotiating, and executing daily purchasing activities for raw materials and packaging supplies. This position requires working closely with external suppliers, vendors, and all internal business departments. The ideal candidate will possess a strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of buying success in the manufacturing industry. Additionally, this role oversees the end-to-end logistics of all inbound and outbound freight coordination across multiple facilities.

Experience Level: 10+ Years (Supply Chain Manufacturing Preferred)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage raw material purchasing workflows by monitoring inventory, processing purchase orders, and aligning deliveries with production demand.
- Oversee macro ingredient logistics, including daily data reconciliation, vendor communication, and ERP inventory updates.
- Analyze macroeconomic trends and specific industry supply/demand dynamics to identify leverage buying and cost-saving opportunities.
- Initiate and execute continuous cost savings on common commodity and special item purchases.
- Analyze market dynamics, commodity price fluctuations, and global economic factors to forecast future costs.
- Develop and cultivate key supplier relationships.
- Collaborate with management team on high-level contract negotiations, pricing, and payment terms.
- Compile and present monthly costing reports.
- Research and analyze market dynamics regarding key material costs and supplier capacities.
- Work with a team to mitigate supply chain risks by identifying and working to qualify alternative material suppliers.
- Supervise packaging supply inventory to mitigate shortages and analyze expenditure to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Execute all aspects of daily incoming and outgoing freight logistics.
- Mitigate infrequent, high-priority after-hours logistical incidents to protect operational continuity
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business Management, or a related field (preferred).
· 10 years of buyer/procurement role within a manufacturing or industrial environment desired.
· Possess proven track record of successfully negotiating complex vendor contracts, pricing, and terms.
· Established reputation of continuous cost savings.
· Strong mathematical and data-analysis skills to accurately assess costs, market trends, and inventory data.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, high organizational ability, and the capacity to problem-solve both independently and collaboratively.
· Willingness to perform all other tasks that would encompass the logistics department as requested
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel skills are highly valued); experience with Infor XA ERP software is a strong plus.
