Join Our Memory Care Team
The Retreat is seeking a compassionate and energetic Part-Time Activities Coordinator to create meaningful experiences for residents living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. This afternoon position is perfect for someone who enjoys engaging with older adults and helping them remain active, connected, and fulfilled.
The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for working with seniors and understands the importance of structured, engaging activities that promote dignity, social connection, and quality of life.
Schedule
Part-Time: Monday–Friday (or as scheduled)
Hours: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Some weekends and holidays may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and lead engaging afternoon and evening activities designed for residents with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
- Encourage participation while providing individualized support based on each resident's abilities and interests.
- Create a positive, welcoming environment that promotes emotional well-being, socialization, and meaningful daily experiences.
- Adapt activities to meet varying cognitive and physical ability levels.
- Assist with group programs including music, games, arts and crafts, exercise, reminiscence, and sensory activities.
- Work closely with the care team to support residents' overall quality of life.
Qualifications & Skills
- Passion for serving older adults, especially those living with Alzheimer's disease or dementia.
- Positive attitude, dependability, and strong sense of responsibility.
- Creative, enthusiastic, and self-motivated.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary care team.
- Compassionate, patient, and energetic personality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in memory care, assisted living, senior living, or long-term care (required).
- Background in recreational therapy, activities programming, or geriatric care.
- Knowledge of dementia-friendly engagement techniques and person-centered care.
