As a Part-Time YDP, you’ll lead engaging, age-appropriate activities and support members in their daily routines. You’ll help create a safe, nurturing space where our youngest Club members can learn, grow, and thrive.
Primary Function:
Under the supervision of the Unit Director, the Youth Development Professional is responsible to provide planning, coordination, and implementation of activities and programs while practicing social distancing, and safety and infection prevention protocols such as sanitization and the requirement of face coverings. A variety of programs are provided which includes: Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, Health and Life Skills, The Arts, and Sports, Fitness and Recreation.
Success Factors:
- Ability to listen, to have patience, and to create a positive atmosphere with children.
- Ability to organize group play activities.
- Experience in early childhood development is preferred.
- Knowledge of conflict resolution and mediation skills.
- Knowledge of appropriate games, recreation, and fine arts.
- The ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms.
- The ability to supervise up to 20 youth at a time.
Position Responsibilities:
- On-Site supervision of the Club members.
- Maintains a positive outlook and attitude with children, and provides constructive feedback
- Plan and implement fun and engaging activities using Boys & Girls Club core programs
- Adhere to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Shasta policies and procedures
- Assist children in building conflict resolution skills and learning responsibility
- Maintain positive discipline and safety procedures at all times.
- Maintain respectful communication with members, parents, school personnel, and staff.
- Help maintain a clean facility.
- Assist with food prep during office hours, including washing, cutting, and preparing snacks and meals for the day.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Experience / Education Required:
- One year of experience working with groups of children in a supervised setting is preferred, but not required.
- Preference for work experience with low-income, disadvantaged children.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing youth programs preferred.
Wage / Benefits:
We are looking for Part-time applicants 20-25 hours per week. Competitive hourly wages $17-$19/ hr based on qualifications and experience. Professional development opportunities and additional hours are available contingent upon performance, funding, and approval.
