Job Overview:
The Deli Clerk is responsible for providing excellent customer service while preparing, packaging, and serving food in a safe, clean, and efficient manner. This position plays an important role in maintaining a welcoming deli environment, ensuring food quality and freshness, and meeting the needs of customers. This position is Full-Time and will hold the responsibility of being a relied-on member of the team at the Dawson & Madison locations.
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers and assist with orders to ensure that all customers are getting the correct food order that meets our satisfaction as a company.
- Answer all questions about products, food ingredients, and preparation methods.
- Maintain proper portion sizes for accurate pricing.
- Restock inventory and refill products for the following shifts, making sure that all ingredients are there for successful food preparation.
- Help route inventory following the rule of “First in, first out”
- Receive and inspect all store incoming deliveries – Help put away into the proper storage areas.
- Work closely with other staff and departments.
- Help provide feedback and suggestions to Deli Supervisor and C-Store Manager so the kitchen department creates a positive atmosphere for employees to work in.
- Perform food preparation for AM and PM Shifts.
- Check daily temperatures and record on appropriate papers.
- Wash all kitchen items when done using them.
- Communicate with the Deli Supervisor on the schedule and help work open shifts when needed.
- Assist with switching out Oil Fryers on a routine basis.
- Clean Kitchen items, appliances, counters, and Floors making sure they are looking presentable.
- All other duties assigned.
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and effective verbal and written communication skills and utilize all media (phone, e-mail, text) for interaction with customers and fellow employees.
- Ability to maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
- Practical organization skills with strong attention to detail along with ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments.
- Ability to respond professionally to common inquiries or complaints from sales staff and other employees, customers, regulatory agencies, suppliers, etc.
- Reads, writes, and speaks the English language fluently.
