Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Human Resources Generalist to manage the day-to-day human resources needs of our organization. This is a hands-on, on-site position responsible for recruiting, employee relations, onboarding, HR administration, and employment compliance.
The ideal candidate is an experienced HR professional who is comfortable working independently and partnering directly with management and employees in a small-business environment. A significant focus of this position will be managing the recruiting process and serving as a resource for employees and management on general HR matters.
This is a part-time, on-site position approximately 2–3 days per week with a flexible schedule.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full-cycle recruiting process, including developing and posting job openings, sourcing candidates, reviewing resumes, conducting initial interviews, coordinating interviews with management, and managing offers and hiring.
- Develop and maintain effective recruiting strategies to attract qualified candidates, including both skilled and general manufacturing positions.
- Coordinate new-hire onboarding and orientation, including required employment documentation and company policies.
- Serve as a primary HR resource for employees and management regarding workplace questions, policies, performance concerns, attendance, and other employee-relations matters.
- Assist management with employee coaching, corrective action, disciplinary matters, and performance management.
- Maintain personnel records and ensure HR documentation is accurate, organized, confidential, and compliant with applicable requirements.
- Administer and maintain company HR policies and assist with updates to the employee handbook and related procedures.
- Support benefits administration, workers' compensation, leave administration, and other employee programs.
- Help ensure compliance with applicable federal and New York State employment laws and regulations.
- Coordinate employee separations and related documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve recruiting, onboarding, employee retention, and general HR processes.
- Handle other human resources responsibilities and projects as needed.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on human resources experience, preferably in an HR Generalist, HR Manager, or similar role.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant HR experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated experience with recruiting and talent acquisition, including candidate sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations and general HR practices.
- Working knowledge of federal and New York State employment laws and regulations.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential employee matters professionally and with sound judgment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Highly organized, dependable, and capable of working independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general HR/recruiting technology.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience with workers' compensation, benefits administration, employee investigations, and performance management is a plus.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is a plus.
