Duties
- Operate a range of vehicles including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and tanker trucks to transport freight and equipment.
- Safely load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Follow designated routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure on-time deliveries and pickups across multiple locations.
- Comply with all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), and hazardous materials regulations to ensure safety and legal adherence.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, route information, and delivery documentation in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and team members to coordinate schedules and address any logistical challenges promptly.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving with various vehicle types such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tanker trucks, or dump trucks.
- Demonstrated ability to operate manual transmission vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation tools for route planning and real-time navigation adjustments.
- Knowledge of logistics cargo handling procedures including load & unload operations for freight, hazardous materials (dangerous goods), and specialized cargo like refrigerated or tanker loads.
- Experience working within regulatory frameworks set by FMCSA, DOT regulations, and hazardous materials handling standards.
- Prior delivery driver experience preferred; familiarity with forklift operation is a plus for loading/unloading tasks.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to commercial driving and cargo security.
