Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Fiber Optic Splicer and Tester to support splicing and testing operations across our customers' fiber optic networks in the Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland region. This hands-on role is essential to the deployment, maintenance, and quality assurance of our telecommunications infrastructure.
The ideal candidate has experience with fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing, and is committed to delivering high-quality work that meets industry and client standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform high-precision single-mode and multi-mode, single and ribbon fiber optic splicing using fusion splicing equipment.
- Conduct testing using OTDR, OLTS, power meters, and other fiber test equipment.
- Interpret splicing diagrams, network plans, and construction prints.
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing fiber-related issues in the field.
- Document test results and maintain accurate records of completed work.
- Follow all safety protocols and industry standards while on job sites.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in fiber optic splicing and testing.
- Proficient with fiber tools and test equipment (e.g., OTDR, power meters).
- Ability to read and understand splicing schematics and network drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel locally and work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Valid driver’s license required and willingness to travel throughout the DMV metro area.
Preferred:
- Certifications in fiber optics (FOA, ETA, or similar).
- Experience with both aerial and underground fiber plant environments.
- Familiarity with documenting and reporting using mobile or digital tools.
- OSHA 10/30 certification.
- Experience working in urban environments with municipal right-of-way considerations.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Field-based role; requires work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform aerial work in a bucket truck/lift/ladder
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and emergency on-call shifts as needed.
