Build Something You'll Be Proud Of
Catalina Stone Oasis LLC is looking for an exceptional Construction Superintendent / Working Foreman to take a leadership role in completing a truly unusual private 12,000 square foot project in northeast Tucson in the Catalina foothills.
This is not a production-home superintendent position.
The Rock House is a large, architecturally distinctive stone estate built into the Sonoran Desert landscape. The property incorporates extensive natural stone and masonry, concrete construction, dramatic indoor and outdoor spaces, mountain views, and substantial future landscaping and water features.
Much of the structure is already standing. The opportunity is to help take an ambitious, partially completed project through the next phase of construction and ultimately across the finish line.
The long-term vision for the property includes luxury guest accommodations, gathering and event spaces, outdoor living areas, extensive stonework and landscaping.
We are looking for someone who sees a project like this and thinks:
"I want to build that."
The Position
You will work directly with ownership and have substantial responsibility for the day-to-day construction operation at the property.
We want a builder and problem solver, not someone whose experience consists primarily of managing schedules from an office.
The right person should be equally comfortable studying a set of plans, laying out tomorrow's work, leading a crew, coordinating a concrete pour, meeting an inspector, operating equipment when necessary, calling a subcontractor, sourcing materials, and finding a less expensive way to solve a construction problem without sacrificing quality.
Responsibilities will include:
- Lead daily construction activities at the property
- Supervise and work alongside a small construction crew
- Plan and sequence upcoming construction
- Read and interpret architectural and engineering plans
- Coordinate specialty subcontractors, inspections and deliveries
- Maintain high standards for workmanship and safety
- Manage materials, tools and equipment efficiently
- Help determine whether equipment should be purchased, rented or supplied internally
- Source materials intelligently and look for opportunities to reduce costs
- Monitor labor productivity and project expenses
- Identify construction problems early and develop practical solutions
- Maintain an organized, professional jobsite
- Provide ownership with straightforward updates on progress, upcoming work, problems and costs
- Help develop realistic schedules and budgets for each phase of construction
Who We're Looking For
Our ideal candidate has:
- 10+ years of meaningful hands-on construction experience
- 5+ years as a superintendent, foreman, construction manager or similar field leader
- Significant custom residential or comparable construction experience
- Strong concrete, forming/rebar, masonry, stone and structural construction knowledge
- Experience managing both employees and subcontractors
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
- Experience coordinating inspections and working with local building authorities
- Strong construction sequencing and scheduling skills
- Experience purchasing materials and controlling construction costs
- Familiarity with skid steers, excavators, tractors and other construction equipment
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- High standards for craftsmanship
- A practical, hands-on management style
- Strong reliability, integrity and accountability
A college degree is not required. Extensive real-world building experience matters more to us.
Arizona Contractor Licensing
An existing Arizona contractor license is not required for this position.
However, any of the following would be highly desirable:
- Current or previous Arizona contractor license
- Previous experience as the qualifying party for an Arizona contractor
- Experience meeting Arizona ROC qualifying-party requirements
- Sufficient construction experience to potentially qualify for an Arizona contractor license
- Willingness to complete applicable Arizona licensing requirements in the future
For an exceptional candidate, Catalina Stone Oasis may support the process of becoming a qualifying party for a company contractor license.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $90,000–$115,000+ depending on experience
We are willing to consider compensation above the stated range for an exceptional candidate with the right combination of construction leadership, hands-on experience, licensing qualifications and project-management ability.
Compensation package is expected to include:
- Competitive salaried compensation
- Company truck
- Paid vacation
- Paid holidays
- Health-insurance contribution
- Approved business mileage/expense reimbursement
- Performance-based bonus opportunity tied to agreed project milestones, quality, productivity and budget performance
More Than a Two-Year Job
We expect the current property construction to provide approximately two years of substantial work, but we are not looking for someone simply to finish one house and leave.
Catalina Stone Oasis is exploring longer-term business opportunities involving stone and masonry construction, rock walls, landscaping, equipment-based site work and related construction services.
The property itself can become both the foundation and showcase for that future business.
For the right person, this position therefore has the potential to evolve from:
Running one extraordinary construction project
into
helping build a long-term construction operation.
How to Apply
We care more about what you've actually built than how polished your résumé is.
Please send your résumé or a summary of your construction experience and tell us about 2–3 significant projects you personally helped build or supervise.
For each project, briefly tell us:
- What was being built?
- What was your responsibility?
- Approximately how large was the crew?
- What portions of the construction did you personally supervise or perform?
- What difficult construction problem did you have to solve?
- Were you responsible for budget, purchasing or cost control?
Please also tell us about any Arizona contractor licensing or qualifying-party experience you have.

If you're an experienced builder who enjoys difficult projects, takes pride in craftsmanship, knows how to lead people, and would rather build something remarkable than supervise another repetitive project, we'd like to hear from you.
