Overview of Your Role
We are extremely excited to bring you on board! As a Senior Power Systems Engineer, you will act as the company’s senior engineer and contribute to the firm’s engineering activities including fee base studies, power systems specification and design, and technical assistance for sales and project management staff.
Your Mission
- Plan, implement, and participate in engineering studies.
- Identify and develop innovative technical power solutions to serve our growing client base.
- Collaborate with other staff members on the promotion of growth within the company, the development of new design or project standards, and technical training for employees.
- As we continue to facilitate growth within GPS, you will train and mentor the engineering and technician team.
- Provide valuable engineering and project improvement options.
- Develop and implement training programs for newly developed products and/or systems.
- Approve test reports to ensure generators meet company and customer expectations.
YOUR STRENGTHS
Creativity and Innovation
- Research and build financial models to evaluate and analyze the costs and benefits of different renewable energy solutions.
- Develop and manage service procedures, quality control procedures and warranty offerings.
- Prepare technical drawings, one‐line diagrams, cost estimates, and specifications of electrical systems to ensure that installation and operations conform to regulatory standards and customer requirements.
- Stay abreast of local power system code requirements.
- Resourceful and able to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet tight deadlines.
Partnership and Relationship Building
- Collaborate with Sales team, and interact with customers, contractors, and project stakeholders, as needed, to assess the technical feasibility of power system projects including, but not limited to commercial and industrial scale generation, distribution, photovoltaics, energy storage and microgrid systems.
- Partner with Production Management to identify new vendors and perform vendor technical qualifications.
- Support the Production team to design new back-up power systems for turnkey installation projects.
- Work with Production to ensure used generator inventory purchases are successful, including on-site inspections.
- Participate in project bid specification reviews and annotations.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related major
- P.E. – California (must have the requirements).
- 10+ years of technical experience with natural gas, diesel generators, uninterruptable power systems,(UPS), automatic transfer systems (ATS), and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
- Knowledge of electric power systems, distributed generation, electrical distribution, switchgear automation, energy storage, microgrids, hybrid power, renewables, and power system controls.
- Proficient in conducting electrical power system studies.
- Strong computer skills are required (e.g., Microsoft productivity tools, Microsoft Suite, SKM, ETap, SalesForce, NetSuite, etc.)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
