The Custodial Supervisor will oversee multiple shift operations of the custodial services team. This position is responsible for supervising, training, motivating, and disciplining employees while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety across Ashley Furniture facilities. The Custodial Supervisor will evaluate staff performance, procedures, and work schedules across multiple shifts and assist in the development and growth of the custodial team.
Primary Job Functions
Operational Management
- Supervise the procurement, inventory, and distribution of custodial supplies and equipment to ensure optimal stock levels and cost efficiency
- Place work orders for facility repairs and maintenance, tracking requests to ensure timely completion
- Perform regular building inspections to ensure safe, sanitary, and compliant conditions throughout all facilities
- Research, test, and implement new technology, equipment, and methods to improve departmental performance and efficiency
Team Leadership & Development
- Make employment decisions and recommendations regarding hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, and pay adjustments
- Coordinate and manage the work of custodial staff by directing team members to meet departmental goals and objectives
- Conduct regular audits to ensure standard operating procedures are followed consistently across all shifts
- Manage employee performance through coaching, mentoring, and administering performance reviews
- Recommend, plan, and implement employee training and skill development activities to enhance team capabilities
Administrative Responsibilities
- Audit, maintain, and ensure accuracy of employee time-keeping and absentee records
- Communicate company and departmental issues, goals, and updates through weekly team meetings and regular individual employee meetings
- Facilitate employee growth and development through coaching, training, and company-offered learning opportunities
- Manage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, personnel, methods, and materials
- Demonstrate Ashley's Core and Growth Values in the performance of all job functions
Secondary Job Functions
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance
- Actively participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and continuing education opportunities
- Assist with training other employees and provide backup support as needed
- Complete other assignments and special projects as requested by management
Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Proven supervisory or leadership experience in custodial services, facilities management, or related field
- Strong knowledge of cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and OSHA regulations
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to make sound employment decisions and manage personnel matters
- Proficiency with inventory management and work order systems
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing multi-shift operations
- Knowledge of green cleaning practices and sustainability initiatives
- Certification in custodial management or facilities operations
Schedule Expectations
- Frequent domestic travel may be required
- Flexible schedule with willingness to work extended hours when necessary
- Ability to supervise and coordinate multiple shift operations
- Availability for emergency facility issues outside of regular business hours

- Work environment includes various facilities with exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment
- May work in varying temperatures and conditions throughout facilities
- Must be able to respond to facility emergencies and urgent situations

- Custodial equipment (floor machines, vacuums, cleaning tools)
- Computer and software systems for inventory management and scheduling
- Communication devices (phone, email, radio)
- Personal protective equipment as required
