GSRP Lead Preschool Teacher

Teaching preschool is demanding work, and no Lead Teacher should be expected to do it alone. Community Unlimited is seeking a qualified GSRP Lead Preschool Teacher to lead our Athens classroom. Support staff will be assigned in proportion to classroom enrollment and all required staffing ratios.
This position is ideal for an educator who can create a warm, structured classroom while successfully managing curriculum, child assessments, family relationships, documentation, and classroom leadership.
What You Will Do
- Plan and lead an engaging, developmentally appropriate preschool classroom using the HighScope curriculum.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where every child can learn and grow.
- Guide and collaborate with classroom support staff.
- Maintain active supervision and consistently follow health and safety requirements.
- Observe, assess, and document each child’s development and progress.
- Use assessment information to individualize learning experiences.
- Build respectful, productive relationships with families through regular communication and required family-engagement activities.
- Maintain accurate classroom records and complete required reports and documentation.
- Collaborate with Community Unlimited leadership, school partners, and other professionals supporting children and families.
- Participate in required training and ongoing professional development.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following qualification pathways:
- Hold a valid Michigan teaching certificate with one of the following endorsements:
- Early Childhood Education (ZA)
- Early Childhood General and Special Education (ZS)
- Birth–Kindergarten endorsement
- Pre-K–3 endorsement
OR
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching. The applicant’s transcript must document a major—not a minor—in early childhood education or child development.
Applicants must already meet one of these qualification pathways to be considered.

Previous GSRP and HighScope experience is preferred.
Compensation
Annual pay is based on credentials, qualifications, and relevant experience. Highly qualified candidates may earn up to $52,632 per year.
