American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Behavioral Health (Psychiatric) position in Ottumwa, IA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of BHU/psych experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit (Adult BHU) in a regional hospital setting
-
Adult patient population ages 18–65 with diagnoses including anxiety, depression, manic disorders, borderline personality disorder, and suicidal ideation
-
14-bed unit with an average daily census of approximately 7 patients
-
Patient ratio of 1:6
-
Night shift: 7p–7a
-
Every other weekend required
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
Floating may be required within a 25-mile radius of the facility
-
EMR: MediTech
-
13-week contract
-
Active Iowa RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand

AHA certifications required (BLS at minimum; confirm applicable AHA certs)

ADN or BSN required
-
Minimum 2 years of experience in a Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) or psychiatric setting

Prior travel nursing experience required

Social Security number required for consideration

Date of birth required for consideration

Iowa State Integrated Background (SING) check — both criminal and child abuse portions — must be cleared prior to start; no instant or statewide searches accepted

All county and state background checks must be fully cleared before the start date

Mandatory Reporter certification required (both Child and Adult)

10-panel drug screening including opiates required

Titers required within the last 12 months: MMR, Hep B, Varicella, and TB
-
Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position

Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible

Candidates who are currently employed full-time elsewhere are not eligible

First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
