SUMMARY
National Enrichment Group is seeking a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. The Program Nutritionist must be enthusiastic and exhibit a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to the communities we serve and demonstrate the ability to motivate and educate. The Nutritionist will work with NEG’s partnering agencies including Early Childhood and Head Start Programs and other potential partners.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Community Program Nutritionist will conduct Nutrition Counseling for multiple Head Start sites throughout the Bronx for children between the ages of 2-5. S/he is responsible for implementing health and safety practices that adhere to the National Head Start Performance Standards, alongside nutrition intervention and counseling to a diverse population. Monitor each child's health by performing periodic health checks, observations and screenings. Screenings include interpretation of anthropometric measurements, blood pressure, lab results, food restrictions, and developmental milestones. Program Nutritionist will work with food service staff to develop CACFP compliant menus and ensure kitchen records for food service are accurate. NEG will train on all duties including CACFP requirements.
ROLES
- Provide comprehensive nutritional assessment of children, such as food restriction requirements.
- Review anthropometrics to identify and follow-up on children whose growth pattern may be of nutritional concern.
- Discuss child’s health and family dynamics with staff and other health professionals.
- Document all notes in electronic records.
- Develop and deliver parent workshops
- Provide Professional Development for staff including cooking staff
- Serve as food and nutrition expert for childcare centers
QUALIFICATIONS
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist through the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Experience with community programs, child nutrition, including Head Start preferred
- Bilingual Spanish preferred
- Proficient in use of Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Drive), MS Word, Zoom
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written skills
- The ideal candidate must be a self-starter
- Flexibility is very important when working with community programs
- Experience with childcare center software preferred, but not required (ChildPlus, Procare, SalesForce, KidKare)
HOURS, LOCATION & SCHEDULE
- 35-50 hours monthly and Nutritionist can develop their own monthly schedule (90% of hours must be conducted between 9am-4pm on weekdays) and in person
