Are you passionate about helping others achieve greater independence? We are seeking compassionate, reliable and motivated Independent Living Skills (ILS) Instructors to support individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities in reaching their personal goas and living as independently as possible.
As an Independent Living Skills Instructor, you will provide one on one support and training to individuals in their home and communities. You will assist with developing essential life skills, promoting self-sufficiency, and encouraging community inclusion.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach independent living skills based on individual goals
- Budgeting and money management
- Household organization and cleaning
- Personal care and hygiene reminders
- Time management
- Assist individuals in accessing community resources and participating in social, recreational and educational activities
- Promote a safe, positive, and empowering environment
Requirements
- A minimum of 2* years of direct care experience working with adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in any setting. (School/Day Program, etc.) OR 6 months *of direct experience with a college degree in Education/Psychology.
- Compassion, patience, and excellent communication skills.
