Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and operate our Okuma MacTurn CNC Multi-Axis mill turn. This candidate will also have experience in editing and optimizing programs. This role involves machining nickel alloy metals in both cast and bar, holding tight tolerances in support of the United States’ Navy.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate an Okuma MacTurn CNC Multi-Axis mill turn machine.
- Perform program editing at the machine control.
- Interpret engineering blueprints GD&T specifications, and technical instructions.
- Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and work holding to efficiently operate machine.
- Conduct in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (CMM experience a plus) to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience setting up and operating a multi-axis CNC mill-turn (Okuma MacTurn and/or Okuma Multus preferred; Integrex experience also acceptable).
- Strong understanding of G and M code programming (OSP experience preferred), with the ability to edit programs at the control.
- Experience machining nickel-alloy castings and bar stock.
- Experience setting up and operating a machine in a job-shop environment (<10 pcs).
- Experience machining to tolerances as tight as +/- .0005”.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks CAM, Siemens NX).
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or NAVSEA quality systems.
- Live tooling experience.
- Prior work on submarine, warship, or nuclear-related components.
