Patient Care: As part of Family Medicine of Albemarle (FMOA), you will experience how rewarding full spectrum family medicine can be. FMOA caters to young and growing families. We have a large, pediatric patient base. We have a largely fee-for-service patient population with a small percentage of Medicare and Medicaid. Our practice provides office-based care with full staff, surgical, and specialty support. We also provide the opportunity for patients to receive care that includes many office-based procedures, orthopedics and sports medicine. There is an opportunity to practice Family based obstetrics, pediatrics and adult medicine. FMOA offers a collaborative practice style and a shared telephone call schedule. - Perform office based medical evaluations including medical histories and examinations. Diagnose, prescribe, and treat ambulatory care patients for a wide variety of illnesses, injuries and preventive exams
- Order and interpret clinical laboratory and radiology reports
- Perform many office based procedures such as: incision and drainage, mole removal, suturing, punch and shave biopsies, etc.
- Refer to specialists and community partners appropriately, working in cooperation with the Practice Physician.
- Provide and/or develop preventive health education and counseling related to individual patient’s needs
- Provide continuity of care to patients by providing consultations and collaborating with other professionals and/or the practice physician.
- Keep up to date with medical developments, new medications, and treatments
- Assist with on call duties such as triage phone calls.
Administrative:
- Complete CME programs and disclose learning to other FMOA professionals
- Participate in monthly/quarterly medical provider meetings
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCE DETERMINATION:
- Education: as required for Nurse Practitioner (FNP) / Physician Assistant (PA) licensure.
- Licenses/Certifications: Nurse Practitioner (FNP) / Physician Assistant (PA) License and Prescriptive Authority license from Commonwealth of Virginia. Board Certification.
