Customer Service Representative – Ocean Import (Temporary)
Location: Long Beach, CA
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Full-Time

About the Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented Ocean Import Customer Service Representative to support a busy international logistics team. This temporary assignment is ideal for someone with prior ocean import experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys providing exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for ocean import customers.
- Track and monitor import shipments from origin through final delivery.
- Coordinate with overseas offices, steamship lines, truckers, customs brokers, and warehouses.
- Prepare and review import documentation including Bills of Lading, Arrival Notices, and Delivery Orders.
- Provide customers with shipment updates and proactively communicate delays or issues.
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry into the transportation management system.
- Resolve customer inquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Coordinate deliveries and maintain shipment milestones.
- Work closely with internal operations teams to ensure smooth shipment processing.
- Maintain organized shipment files and documentation.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of Ocean Import Customer Service experience required.
- Freight forwarding or NVOCC experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of ocean import documentation and import processes.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Experience with CargoWise or other freight forwarding software is a plus.
