Position Summary:
New Hampshire Electric Cooperative (NHEC) is a member-owned organization serving communities throughout New Hampshire. As we continue to strengthen and protect the technology systems that support our employees, members, and communities, we are seeking an IT Security Technical Analyst to join our collaborative Information Technology team. Reporting to and partnering closely with the Director of IT, this role will assume primary responsibility in monitoring NHEC's IT assets and data, investigating potential threats, proposing mitigation approaches, and implementing security plans. The Technical Analyst takes an active role in providing training and guidance on security best practices to improve the security posture of NHEC staff, board members, and vendors.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Process security alerts which are generated by various security tools like vulnerability scanners, SIEM, DLP, and MDR.
- Act as primary administrator of various security tools and appliances. This includes ensuring the platform meets specifications; reviewing and responding to output; and working with team to ensure all security tools continue to perform as designed.
- Respond to user reported phishing. Evaluate for accuracy and notify the user of finding. Use data gathered to enhance security measures and training.
- Contribute to improvements in the management of email security by using configuration, built in tools, and accessory tools. Remove identified malicious emails from employee inboxes in accordance with NHEC guidelines.
- Create procedural documentation for response to phishing and other cyber related events.
- Work with IT and OT engineering team to remediate known vulnerabilities.
- Assist in the implementation of the CIS security framework. Apply the framework to identify, prioritize and remediate areas for improvement in security configuration.
- As part of the Security Operations team, help drive the prioritization of identified risks and work closely with departments during the remediation process.
- Work with the Senior Security Compliance Analyst to develop an audit schedule and help facilitate the audits, both internal and external.
- Monitor threat intelligence feeds and notify key members of NHEC to risks that may impact the organization.
- Assist in the development of the Incident Response Plan (IRP). Assist in planning and participate in tabletop exercises. Prepare to fill role(s) defined for this position in the IRP. Contribute to Incident Response actions. Act as Security Operations Manager if s/he is unavailable to perform assigned duties.
- Assist in creation of IT policies. Review audit logs at a cadence defined by NHEC policies and procedures.
- Respond to legal requests including legal discovery for litigation and legal hold, both for premise and Microsoft 365 / Azure stored artifacts. Works with staff and NHEC counsel to find the best solution for addressing legal needs. Collaborate with IT team to determine and implement solution.
- Assist in maintaining Risk Register to include all identified risks, status and eventual remediation.
- Escalate identified vulnerabilities to executive team / CEO if internal collaboration does not effectively address them.
Customer Service
- Represent the Infosec department as the friendly, courteous, professional first point of contact with employees.
- Train employees on security best practices with regards to technology and sensitive information.
- Record all requests and incidents in the ticket system.
- Seek to understand business needs and ways to improve the security around them, while ensuring the company is still able to conduct business in an efficient manner.
System Administration
- Monitor security configuration of accounts and access in Active Directory and Microsoft 365. Monitor security configuration of the building access system including the printing of badges and assigning facility access.
- Troubleshoot software, networking, and performance issues independently.
- Purchase and dispose of IT security assets in accordance with company policy.
- Improve efficiency through process improvement and automation of common tasks.
- Share knowledge and ensure business continuity by contributing to documentation.
- Participate in IT projects as needed.
- Work with IT team on patch management.
- Review software products against the identified security framework to determine if they meet NHEC security standards. Make recommendations for secure implementation.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related IT field preferred plus 3 years of experience in a customer focused technical role or 7 years equivalent experience in lieu of bachelor's degree.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and must meet the carrier standard for insurability.
- Understanding Windows administration and troubleshooting including IAM, application deployment and patching, ITSM, and automation including scripting.
- Basic network administration and troubleshooting including WAN and LAN fundamentals.
- Understanding cybersecurity fundamentals.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in an IT discipline.
- CompTIA Security+ or similar preferred.
- Competent with scripting and automation tools such as Git, Python and Ansible.
- Attention to detail as demonstrated by thorough and careful planning and execution of IT projects and changes.

Emergency Restoration
- Assistance with restoration efforts is required of all employees.
- Employees will be assigned functions to support storm restoration and for some employees that may be different from their normal duties.
- Such assistance may require working nights, weekends and holidays which may involve considerable extra hours.
- In order to meet this working condition, all employees are required to provide a personal phone number where they may be reached after hours. This number will only be used for internal purposes.

Working Conditions:
Normal office conditions, occasional overtime may be required. Positions eligible for a hybrid work schedule will be dependent upon management approval & workload, however on-site office work in the Plymouth, NH area will be required.
Will be required to work long hours on occasions, especially during major system outages. Limited travel required in the performance of work responsibilities and representing NHEC at various professional and association meetings. Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support and respond to emergencies promptly.

The targeted salary for this position is $89,621.00 - $101,604.00 with anticipated pay for new hires between the entry and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of NHEC's total compensation package for employees.
