Physician Assistant (PA) – Nephrology Practice

About the Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) to join our growing nephrology practice in Shreveport, Louisiana. This position offers a dynamic mix of inpatient nephrology care, hospital consultations, and dialysis rounding responsibilities. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment and enjoy collaborating closely with physicians, dialysis staff, hospital teams, and patients with complex kidney disease.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct hospital rounds and evaluate nephrology patients in inpatient settings.
- Perform dialysis rounds at outpatient and inpatient dialysis facilities.
- Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with acute and chronic kidney disease under physician supervision.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with nephrologists.
- Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently within the electronic medical record.
- Coordinate care with hospitals, dialysis centers, primary care providers, and specialists.
- Provide patient and family education regarding kidney disease management and treatment options.
- Review laboratory and diagnostic results and communicate findings to supervising physicians.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and practice development activities.
Call Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for after-hours patient calls and clinical concerns.
- Participate in night, weekend, and holiday call coverage as required.
- Triage patient issues and collaborate with the on-call nephrologist to ensure appropriate care and follow-up.
QualificationsRequired
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current Louisiana PA license or eligibility for licensure.
- NCCPA certification.
- Current DEA registration or ability to obtain.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and clinical decision-making skills.
Preferred
- Two (2) years of experience in a patient care setting, preferably in hospital medicine, internal medicine, critical care, nephrology, or a related specialty.
- Experience managing complex medical patients in acute care or dialysis environments.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
