Alpha Inc. is looking for an Estimator who understands that winning projects starts long before bid day.
This is not a spreadsheet-punching role for someone who simply counts quantities and submits numbers.
This is a high-impact position for a builder-minded professional who can identify opportunities, uncover risks, develop strategic pricing, build relationships, and help Alpha secure the projects that shape Hawai?i's future.
You'll be responsible for transforming plans, specifications, production assumptions, subcontractor input, market intelligence, and field realities into winning strategies and highly competitive bids.
If you're the kind of estimator who catches what others miss, asks the questions others overlook, and understands that precision creates profit, this may be your next career-defining opportunity.
Founded and grown in Hawai?i, Alpha Inc. is a locally owned leader in heavy civil construction, renewable energy, concrete services, drilling, and infrastructure solutions.
We build projects that strengthen island communities for generations—with precision, purpose, and pride.
Everything we do is guided by our core values:
We lead with humility, integrity, empathy, and respect.
We believe the best results come from aligned teams working toward a common goal.
We embrace accountability, grit, continuous improvement, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
As an Estimator, you'll bring these values into every pursuit, every estimate, every client interaction, and every project opportunity that carries the Alpha name.
As Estimator, you'll play a critical role in fueling Alpha's growth by identifying opportunities, developing competitive estimates, evaluating risk, and helping position the company to win profitable work across both public and private-sector projects.
Review and analyze plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, bid documents, addenda, and project requirements.
Develop comprehensive estimates, bid packages, schedules, and executive summaries that support strategic decision-making.
Perform and coordinate quantity takeoffs with careful consideration of site logistics, access constraints, production rates, phasing requirements, and constructability.
Maintain estimate accuracy while balancing competitiveness and profitability.
Monitor government procurement platforms, industry publications, client pipelines, and market activity for upcoming projects.
Identify opportunities early and help position Alpha before projects formally enter procurement.
Support business development efforts through market awareness, relationship-building, and strategic opportunity tracking.
Contribute to go/no-go evaluations and pursuit strategies.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and industry partners.
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
Perform bid leveling and scope comparisons to ensure complete and accurate coverage.
Secure multiple qualified quotations whenever practical to maximize competitiveness and minimize risk exposure.
Evaluate scope gaps, document inconsistencies, schedule risks, production challenges, material fluctuations, and site conditions that may impact project outcomes.
Challenge assumptions and validate pricing strategies before submission.
Help ensure Alpha wins the right projects at the right price with the right execution plan.
Partner closely with operations leaders, project managers, superintendents, executives, subcontractors, and vendors.
Translate technical complexity into clear business decisions.
Support seamless transitions from preconstruction to operations.
Bring the mindset of a builder to every estimate and every pursuit.
You are analytical, competitive, relationship-driven, and obsessed with details.
You understand that successful estimates aren't just accurate—they're strategic.
