Job Purpose
· An Industrial Programmer is responsible for the programming, modification, and troubleshooting of industrial controllers and computer systems utilized in a manufacturing facility. Their duties include installing, maintaining, upgrading, or replacing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and other electrical automation components, troubleshooting automated systems for repairs and communicating with outside contractors to establish job details and related costs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Understanding and applying blueprints and technical diagrams
· Using various devices, including ammeters, voltmeters, thermal scanners and cable testers, as well as hand and power tools
· Inspecting and maintaining automation systems
· Troubleshooting PLCs, VFDs, and Servomotor controllers, Instrumentation, and other devices
· Programming primarily Allen-Bradley Controllers
· Ability to coordinate tasks with others through personal initiative.
· Versed in lock-out/tag-out procedures and possess a strong safety orientation and record
· Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and complete objectives with minimal supervision.
· Programming SCADA and HMI systems - Predominantly Allen-Bradley and Ignition
· Quickly responding to and resolving controls issues on the production floor
· Completing work orders on time
· Documenting the work completed and materials used.
- Working with other electricians, general contractors, architects and other team members
· Perform any other duties that are asked of them by the supervisors/managers (Even if the task potentially does not pertain to their position)
· Open to occasional fluctuating/flexing hours based on business and plant needs
· Some travel between Lubbock, TX and Portales, NM will be required occasionally
Education and/or Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, programming, or a closely related field
· 2+ years of hands-on experience as an industrial Programmer in manufacturing or maintenance setting
· Advanced Programming skills, including SQL databases and communication in a machine-to-machine environment (M2M)
· Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, drawings, and manuals
· Be able to operate and work from lifts
· Programmers should be able to see and discern color
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
· Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or a related program with programming emphasis
· Allen-Bradley PLC Programming training preferred
Work Environment
· Combination of an office and manufacturing environment along with duties that will require employees to work in a production/plant environment where physical hazards such as industrial equipment and forklifts may be present.
Schedule
· Day shift
· Monday to Friday
· On call, overtime, and weekends as needed
