THE POSITION
As the State Facility Director, DHS for the Department of Human Services, you will drive the hospital’s mission to strengthen clinical and operational practices that improve care and elevate outcomes at Norristown State Hospital. This role gives you the chance to rally teams, upgrade systems, and champion high-quality service across a complex and dynamic environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role leads and directs the clinical and operational functions of Norristown State Hospital to ensure operational efficiency, strong management, high-quality service delivery, and financial soundness. As a State Facility Director, DHS, you will perform the following duties:
- Operational Leadership: Guide hospital operations to support efficient workflows, strong performance, and excellence in treatment and rehabilitation
- Strategic Oversight: Shape clinical and operational strategies that strengthen programs, enhance results, and achieve goals
- Team Development: Support leaders through collaboration, coaching, and communication to build strong, future-focused teams
- Program Growth: Lead the development and enhancement of hospital programs, including therapy services, readiness programs, and cognitive remediation efforts
- Financial Management: Assess and manage the complete operating budget while maintaining timely, accurate reporting
- Accreditation Preparedness: Oversee departmental activities to ensure full compliance with standards, surveys, and certification requirements

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule is subject to change based on the needs of this 24 hour per day, 7 days per week facility.
- Telework: You will to have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Seven years of professional human services or health care program experience that includes three years in a mental health or residential care and treatment facility, including two years in a supervisory capacity, and a bachelor’s degree; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years in a mental health or residential care and treatment facility, including two years in a supervisory capacity.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Chief Executive Officer or Chief Operating Officer leadership level experience at a hospital
- Possession of a graduate degree
- Certification as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE)
