The King County Department of Information Technology (KCIT) is seeking an experienced and highly skilled financial professional to join our Business and Finance Team as a Business and Finance Officer IV. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position plays a key role in developing budgets, managing revenue, building service rates, and guiding complex financial operations across the department. You will serve as a subject-matter expert in accounting, budgeting, cost recovery, and financial analysis—operating both independently and collaboratively to support high-impact financial initiatives. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
In this role, you will: Prepare biennial budgets, revisions, and supplemental requests for assigned programs and funds, including all supporting financial documentation. Develop and maintain service rates, cost-recovery models, and long-term financial planning tools that ensure cost effective, sustainable operations.Oversee accounting and financial reporting activities to ensure accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls, initiating necessary accounting transactions.Lead improvements to financial processes, reporting tools, metrics, and dashboards to enhance efficiency and support decision-making.Provide advanced financial analysis, forecasting, and scenario modeling to support department-wide planning and strategic decisions.Manage revenue and billing processes to ensure accurate, timely, and well-documented revenue collection.Supervise financial staff and lead cross-functional financial initiatives, as assigned.Other duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Hybrid Work: KCIT works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is the Chinook Building 401 5th Avenue Seattle, Washington.Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment.
