The Prepress Operator prepares files for manufacturing by executing internal prepress workflows and production processes. This role is responsible for file prep, imposition, color management, proof generation, plate output, and final production readiness to ensure accurate, efficient, and high-quality printing results. The position works closely with Client Services and Operations to support on-time job completion and manufacturing performance.

Receive production files from Client Services and prepare them for digital and offset print production within the established prepress workflow.

Execute imposition, trapping, overprint settings, pagination, shingling (creep), and related production adjustments.

Apply and manage appropriate color profiles, resolution standards, and press settings to ensure manufacturing accuracy.

Generate digital hard copy proofs in accordance with internal standards and route through the defined proofing process.

Output plates or other required production files to meet manufacturing specifications and deadlines.

Perform internal production readiness checks necessary to ensure accurate release to Manufacturing.

Identify technical issues that may impact print quality or production efficiency and escalate exceptions through Client Services when client input or approval is required.

Perform file cleanup or corrections only when authorized; document work performed in accordance with billing and job tracking procedures.

Maintain compliance with internal standards for file transmission, proofing, workflow controls, and equipment calibration.

Support preventive maintenance procedures for prepress equipment and workflow systems.

Monitor and report supply needs for prepress equipment.

Participate in process improvement initiatives related to workflow efficiency, quality control, and waste reduction.

Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum 3 to 5 years of prepress or print production experience.

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.

Experience with Kodak Prinergy workflow system.

Working knowledge of imposition software such as Metrix, Preps and SmartStream.

Strong understanding of print production theory including imposition, trapping, overprinting, color management, resolution, press gain, paper characteristics, pagination, and shingling.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadlinedriven production environment.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Experience with Metrix and Pace systems.

Experience with Enfocus PitStop and Enfocus Switch.

Familiarity with setting up supplied files for variable data.

Experience in a Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environment.
