About Monet Interior
Monet Interior designs, manufactures, and installs custom closets, frameless cabinetry, garages, pantries, offices, laundry rooms, mudrooms, media centers, and other residential storage solutions throughout the North Austin area.
We are seeking an experienced, dependable cabinet or closet installation subcontractor who takes pride in accurate work, protects the client’s home, and can independently complete installations to professional standards.
Independent Contractor Relationship
This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity—not a W-2 employee position.
- Installation opportunities are offered on a project-by-project basis.
- The contractor may accept or decline individual projects.
- There are no guaranteed hours, required weekly availability, or exclusive-work requirements.
- The contractor controls the manner, methods, sequencing, and staffing used to complete the work, subject to the approved plans, project specifications, safety requirements, client-access limitations, and completion deadline.
- Contractors may perform services for other companies and customers.
- Compensation is project-based and agreed upon before the project is accepted.
- Contractors submit invoices for completed work.
- Contractors are responsible for their own federal and state tax obligations, insurance, operating expenses, tools, transportation, helpers, and business records.
- No employee benefits, paid time off, overtime, payroll tax withholding, or guaranteed continuing work are provided.
- A completed W-9 and signed independent-contractor agreement are required before accepting projects.
Installation Responsibilities
- Install custom closets, frameless European-style cabinetry, garage storage, pantries, offices, laundry cabinetry, media centers, and related products.
- Read and accurately follow elevations, floor plans, installation drawings, cutlists, and project specifications.
- Verify field dimensions and report conflicts before altering materials.
- Install suspension rails, vertical panels, fixed and adjustable shelves, cabinet boxes, fillers, countertops, doors, drawer boxes, drawer fronts, rods, moldings, accessories, and related components.
- Scribe and fit materials around walls, floors, ceilings, baseboards, and other field conditions.
- Produce level, plumb, square, properly aligned installations with consistent reveals.
- Adjust hinges, drawer slides, doors, and drawer fronts for correct operation.
- Protect cabinetry, flooring, walls, furniture, and other client property during transportation and installation.
- Keep the work area organized and remove installation debris upon completion.
- Document completed work and field conditions with photographs.
- Complete agreed punch-list or workmanship corrections promptly.
- Immediately report damaged, missing, incorrect, or unsafe materials and conditions.
- Take responsibility for the quality of work performed by the contractor and any helpers or crew members used.
Contractor Requirements
- Professional cabinet, closet, millwork, finish-carpentry, or comparable installation experience.
- Experience with frameless cabinetry and 32mm closet systems strongly preferred.
- Ability to read installation drawings and determine layout without continuous supervision.
- Own the standard hand tools and power tools necessary to complete installations.
- Own a dependable work vehicle capable of safely transporting tools and installation materials.
- Maintain appropriate general-liability and automobile insurance.
- Supply personal protective equipment and follow applicable jobsite safety requirements.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Smartphone with the ability to receive project documents and submit photographs and invoices.
- Ability to lift and safely handle cabinetry, finished panels, and materials measuring up to 96 inches, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Strong attention to detail and a professional appearance when working in occupied homes.
- Reliable communication regarding project acceptance, arrival coordination, field conflicts, and completion.
- Background screening may be required because projects are performed in clients’ homes.
Helpers and Installation Crews
Contractors may use qualified helpers or crew members when appropriate. The contractor is responsible for selecting, hiring, paying, supervising, and insuring those individuals. Everyone entering a client’s property must comply with applicable safety, conduct, and screening requirements.
Compensation
Each available project will include:
- Installation location
- Project scope and drawings
- Expected completion window
- Project-specific compensation
- Known access or site conditions
The contractor may review the information and accept or decline the project before work is assigned. Larger or multi-day projects may include progress-payment terms when agreed upon in writing.
