Summary:
As the Veterinary Technician you will aid in performing direct care for cats and their caregivers. The Veterinary Technician must enjoy cats as you will be involved in the care from arrival to departure.
Responsibilities:
- Follows established procedures to ensure the security of patients, staff, data, revenue, inventory, and the facility
- Greets owners and their cats in a pleasant and caring manner
- Triages patients in preparation for visit
- Performs procedures such as blood draws, placing catheters, taking radiographs, and anesthetic monitoring
- Understands the principles of aseptic technique to aid the Veterinarian in surgical procedures
- Cross-trains to aid with front office duties such as check-in and check-out, scheduling, and answering phones on occasion
- Maintains hospital cleanliness
- Performs routine room checks for supplies, re-stocking, and laundry
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in an animal facility, required
- 3+ years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Technician
- Prior experience taking blood, placing catheters, taking radiographs, and anesthetic monitoring
- Strong communication skills both spoken and written
