Panel Packaging Position

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Packager to join our team at a metal manufacturing facility. The Packager will prepare finished metal products for shipment or storage, ensure quality and safety standards, and operate a sit-down propane-powered forklift to transport materials within the warehouse. This role requires physical capability, attention to detail, and technical proficiency in forklift operation.
Responsibilities
- Pack, weigh, and label completed metal products for shipment or storage.
- Operate a sit-down propane-powered forklift to move metal products and materials safely and efficiently within the warehouse.
- Follow all company guidelines regarding packaging and forklift operation, including safety and quality standards specific to metal products.
- Identify and dispose of defective metal items before shipping.
- Use packaging materials, including hand tools, glues, nails, padding, etc., suitable for metal products.
- Keep complete records of all materials processed in the warehouse.
- Ensure items are transported and stored safely, considering the weight and nature of metal products.
- Seal containers and use adhesives to protect packages during transportation, especially for heavy metal items.
- Observe all company safety standards, particularly those related to handling metal, heavy lifting, and forklift operation. -
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including forklift maintenance and refueling areas.
- Will oversee/monitor wrapping machine. Monitor and adjust the speed of the machine and will operate a forklift.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid forklift certification for operating a sit-down propane-powered forklift.
- Experience in manufacturing or related field, preferably in metal manufacturing, is preferred.
- Proven experience operating a sit-down propane-powered forklift in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
- Basic shop skills, such as using hand tools, with experience in handling metal products.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Strong communication skills and desire to work with other team members.
- Physically fit, able to lift heavy metal items (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- Attention to detail, especially in identifying defects in metal products.
- Familiarity with packaging equipment used in metal manufacturing is a plus.
- OSHA training or certification is a plus.
