Position Summary
The Body Shop Estimator is responsible for evaluating vehicle damage and preparing accurate repair estimates for insurance claims and customer-pay repairs. This role works closely with technicians, management, and insurance partners to ensure timely, precise, and cost-effective repair plans while delivering an excellent customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect damaged vehicles to determine the extent of structural, body, mechanical, and interior damage.
- Prepare detailed estimates outlining the cost of parts and labor required for repairs.
- Collaborate with the body shop manager or foreman to review and finalize repair estimates.
- Coordinate with insurance adjusters and arrange additional appraisals when repair cost disputes arise.
- Evaluate whether damaged components should be repaired or replaced, including parts such as bumpers, fenders, and doors.
- Assess whether vehicle repairs are practical or if settlement at the vehicle’s pre-accident market value is appropriate.
- Determine salvage values for vehicles considered total losses.
- Complete and submit insurance documentation that details repair estimates and recommended actions.
- Provide estimates for repainting, specialty conversions, or customization projects when applicable.
- Maintain compliance with all company safety policies and immediately report accidents or safety concerns to management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Body Shop Estimator required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to successfully complete pre-employment screening, including background check, motor vehicle report (MVR), and drug screening.
- Commitment to performing all duties in a safe and responsible manner.
