Life Crisis Center, Inc is dedicated to supporting victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Child Abuse, and Human Trafficking. We provide a 24/7 Shelter and Hotline, offering a compassionate environment where victims can access vital resources and regain control of their lives. Our mission is to empower survivors and help child victims reclaim their childhood through dedicated advocacy and support.
Duties
1. Crisis assessment and intervention, risk assessment and safety planning and support for children and family members at all stages of involvement with the CAC.
2. Assess individual needs, cultural considerations for child/family and help to ensure those needs are being addressed in concert with the MDT and other service providers.
3. Present at the CAC during the forensic interview in order to participate in information sharing with other MDT members, inform and support the family regarding the coordinated, multidisciplinary response, and assess needs of children and nonoffending caregivers.
4. Educate and assist non-offending parents and other secondary victims in ensuring access to victim’s rights and crime victim’s compensation.
5. Participate in case review to communicate and discuss the unique needs of the child and family and associated services planning; and help ensure the coordination of identified services and that the child and family’s concerns are heard and addressed.
6. Provide case status updates to the family, including investigations, court date, continuances, dispositions, sentencing and inmate status notification (including offender release from custody)
7. Engage with the child and family to help them understand the investigation/ prosecution process and help ensure understanding of crime victims’ rights. Court accompaniment, attending court hearings and providing court testimony when necessary.
8. Provide information and referral on basic needs and services (housing, protective orders, domestic violence intervention, food, transportation, public assistance, civil legal services, etc.)
9. Facilitate referrals for trauma-focused, evidence-supported mental health and attend specialized medical treatment for child victim for emotional support.
10. Assist the CAC team in providing outreach support, advocacy, and public prevention education regarding the Child Advocacy model of intervention.
11. Submit time and effort reporting for grant and outreach data needs to the CAC and LCC.
12. Attend appropriate community and internal team meetings, including CAC meetings and trainings.
13. Obtain training to specialize in services to child abuse victims, trauma-informed care, and CAC accreditation standards.
14. Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director and/or Executive Director.
Skills
Possession of a Master’s Degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university is preferred, experience in field can be substituted for higher level degree.Experience in providing crisis intervention to clients who have been victims of abuse. Ability to communicate well with others both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish working relationships with community partners. Must have a balanced, realistic attitude toward oneself in the provider role and an ability to maintain objectivity and draw boundaries. Working knowledge of and adherence to laws and ethics pertaining to mental health and in work with children.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
