Summary:
- Inspect and ensure quality of welds and overall fabrication of plate and structural steel.
- Certify that final product is free of defects.
Duties:
- Perform dimensional and visual inspection of shop fabrication (including final paint inspections), weld prep, and final welds.
- Responsible for fabricated metal material conforming to drawings, shop standards, specs and all applicable codes.
- Record and maintain in-process and final inspection records for quality assurance and production control.
- Identify and remedy drawing discrepancies with detailers.
- Coordinate with customers' inspectors during the inspection phase.
- Inform foremen of defects in fabrication.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret structural steel drawings.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of various weld test procedures and knowledge of AWS and AISC codes applicable to steel fabrication and erection.
CWI certification is a significant plus!
**Compensation is based on experience and is negotiable! More qualified experience could potentially yield higher compensation.
Must have a minimum of three years experience in this field.
