Job Summary
Join our team as a Monument Setter / Cemetery Services Specialist, where you will perform hands-on cemetery and memorial work throughout multiple cemeteries in the service area. This position is responsible for setting and installing monuments, opening and closing graves, setting up funeral tents and equipment, and assisting with the interment of deceased individuals.
The ideal candidate is dependable, respectful, physically capable, and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Because this position involves working directly around funeral services and grieving families, professionalism and respect are required at all times. Employees will regularly travel between cemeteries and job sites, so a valid driver's license is required.
Duties
- Transport, unload, position, level, and install monuments, headstones, markers, and related memorial products.
- Dig, prepare, open, and close graves at various cemeteries using hand tools and appropriate equipment.
- Assist with the interment of deceased individuals, including preparing the gravesite and properly completing burial procedures.
- Set up and remove funeral tents, chairs, lowering devices, grass coverings, and other graveside service equipment.
- Travel to different cemeteries and burial locations throughout the service area.
- Operate company trucks, trailers, and other equipment used to transport monuments, tents, tools, and burial equipment.
- Safely perform heavy lifting and manual labor associated with monuments, vaults, cemetery equipment, and graveside services.
- Ensure monuments are properly positioned, leveled, secured, and installed according to cemetery and customer requirements.
- Prepare gravesites before funeral services and ensure the area is clean and presentable after services are completed.
- Work respectfully around funeral directors, cemetery personnel, families, and other individuals attending services.
- Maintain tools, trucks, trailers, tents, and other equipment in safe and serviceable condition.
- Follow all company safety procedures when digging graves, handling monuments, operating equipment, and working around burial sites.
- Complete job records and communicate with management regarding completed installations, burials, and upcoming cemetery work.
- Perform additional monument, cemetery, and funeral-service-related duties as assigned.
Experience and Requirements
- Previous experience in monument setting, cemetery work, excavation, construction, landscaping, funeral services, or similar physical work is preferred but not required.
- Valid driver's license is required.
- Ability to safely operate trucks and tow trailers; experience driving larger vehicles or equipment is preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, digging, bending, and working on uneven ground.
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other weather conditions.
- Comfortable working around gravesites, burial services, and deceased individuals.
- Must be dependable and able to arrive at funeral and burial locations on time.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and respect when working around grieving families.
- Experience operating excavation or cemetery equipment is a plus.
- Willingness to learn proper monument-setting, grave-opening, grave-closing, tent-setting, and interment procedures.

Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
