Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner/Primary Care Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations, vital signs, and medical history reviews.
- Manage orthopedic conditions through procedures such as suturing, injection administration (including botulinum toxin treatments), and basic wound care.
- Provide primary care services including diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, and follow-up care for a diverse patient population.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations utilizing EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks; order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies such as sonography or medical imaging, and diagnostic procedures like spinal taps or catheterizations.
- Assist with acute pain management, triage calls, and urgent care needs; coordinate referrals for specialized services including gastroenterology or infectious disease care.
- Administer IV infusions, perform venipuncture, phlebotomy, and catheter care while maintaining sterile techniques aligned with infection control standards.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations; ensure compliance with ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) for billing purposes.
- Support clinical research initiatives and participate in quality improvement projects; contribute to discharge planning and case management efforts for post-acute or hospice & palliative medicine patients.
- Engage in telehealth consultations utilizing telehealth platforms to expand access to care across various settings including outpatient clinics or home care environments.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Nurse Practitioner in orthopedic settings or primary care environments with exposure to acute care, hospital medicine, or emergency medicine.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; familiarity with medical documentation standards and CPT coding practices.
- Prior experience performing procedures such as suturing, dermal fillers administration, spinal taps, catheterizations, or esthetic laser treatments is highly desirable.
- Background working within diverse healthcare settings including hospitals (Level I & II trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or outpatient clinics.
- Critical care experience from ICU or PICU environments enhances your ability to manage complex cases involving infectious disease care or ventilator management.
- Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation law and utilization review processes; experience with medical imaging interpretation and laboratory specimen processing is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of physiology knowledge related to geriatrics, pediatrics (including toddler and neonatal care), behavioral health issues such as dementia or Alzheimer’s care, and chronic disease management like diabetes or spinal disorders.
