Hours required are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4 PM to 7 PM and every other weekend 8 AM to 9:30 AM and 4 PM to 7 PM. The weekend is a split shift. (More hours will be available once we are in our new building)
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care and supervision for animals in boarding kennels, including feeding, watering, exercise, and cleaning
- Monitor animals’ health and behavior, promptly reporting any concerns to veterinary staff or supervisors
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations or treatments using proper techniques and personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with procedures such as IV insertion, catheterization, medication administration, and laboratory sample collection
- Maintain accurate records of animal intake, discharge, medications administered, and other relevant documentation
- Ensure kennel areas are sanitized using aseptic techniques to prevent infection and promote animal health
- Handle pet owners’ questions professionally at the front desk and assist with check-in/check-out processes
Experience
- Prior kennel experience or animal husbandry background preferred; experience working in veterinary clinics or animal shelters is highly valued
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and basic medical procedures such as medication administration and laboratory work
- Experience with dog handling, animal restraint techniques, equine care (if applicable), and pet care best practices
- Familiarity with surgical procedures or veterinary critical care is a plus but not required
- Ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly and follow aseptic protocols diligently
- Strong understanding of animal behavior, restraint methods, and safety procedures in handling diverse species including dogs, cats, and horses if applicable
