Elderly Companion / Household Helper
Location: Walterboro, SC
Pay: $16.00 per hour
Schedule: Daytime, approximately 4–8 hours per day
Typical Hours: Approximately 9:30 AM–5:30 PM
We are looking for a kind, dependable, trustworthy, and patient person to provide companionship and light household assistance for elderly parents in their home in Walterboro, South Carolina.
This is primarily a companion and household-helper position, not a medical caregiving position. Much of the job involves being present, providing companionship, and being available when assistance is needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly companionship and conversation
- Be present in the home and available to assist as needed
- Grocery shopping and occasional errands
- Light housekeeping and household chores
- Help keep the home organized and comfortable
- Assist with simple day-to-day activities
- Communicate with family if any concerns arise
No heavy housekeeping or skilled nursing care is expected.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should be:
- Kind, patient, honest, and dependable
- Comfortable spending time with elderly adults
- Punctual and reliable
- Able to work independently
- Have reliable transportation
- Have a valid driver's license and good driving record
- Comfortable grocery shopping and running errands
- Willing to provide references and undergo a background check
Previous experience as a caregiver, CNA, home health aide, senior companion, healthcare worker, or household assistant is helpful but not required for the right person.
Retired healthcare workers and others looking for meaningful, steady daytime work are encouraged to apply.
Compensation
$16.00 per hour
Mileage will be reimbursed for approved work-related errands and grocery shopping. Regular commuting to and from the home is not considered reimbursable work mileage.
Schedule
Approximately 4–8 hours per day, generally between 9:30 AM and 5:30 PM.
The number of hours may vary depending on the day, so some scheduling flexibility is preferred.
