Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join an Ambulatory Surgery Center. In this role, you will assist surgeons and the operating room team during surgical procedures by preparing sterile instruments, maintaining a sterile environment, supporting patient care, and ensuring the operating room is fully equipped and ready for surgery. Ophthalmology experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments, and sterile supplies before procedures.
- Assist surgeons by passing instruments and anticipating their needs during surgery.
- Maintain sterile technique and infection control standards throughout procedures.
- Prepare and handle surgical specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Assist with patient positioning, transfers, and pre-operative preparation.
- Perform surgical counts with the RN according to established policies.
- Inspect, prepare, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment.
- Assist with room turnover, inventory management, and stocking supplies.
- Participate in patient safety initiatives, including surgical time-outs.
- Report safety concerns and document incidents as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Graduate of an approved Surgical Technology program.
- Minimum 1 year of surgical scrub experience in an ambulatory surgery center or similar clinical setting.
- Ophthalmology surgical experience is required.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sterile techniques, infection control, and operating room procedures.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with standard office applications.
Pay: $1,300.00 - $1,340.00 per week
