Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and dependable Custodian to join our team and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning of all areas including floors, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning tools and supplies
- Conduct routine janitorial duties such as trash removal, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces to uphold hygiene standards
- Maintain floor care through buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing to ensure surfaces are safe and visually appealing
- Assist with light custodial tasks related to facilities maintenance including minor repairs or reporting issues for prompt resolution
- Support industrial or commercial cleaning projects by utilizing specialized equipment for deep cleaning or large-scale sanitation efforts
- Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored and maintained in accordance with safety guidelines
- Collaborate with team members to prioritize tasks efficiently during busy periods while maintaining high standards of cleanliness
Qualifications
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred; familiarity with commercial cleaning techniques is highly valued
- Knowledge of floor care procedures such as buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing
- Experience in industrial cleaning or facilities maintenance is a plus
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks throughout shifts
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team during busy seasons
- Must pass a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) approved by the Maine Department of Education (DOE)
