Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the optometric practice's daily operations. You will assist in various clinical tasks, ensuring that patients receive the highest level of service while contributing to an efficient workflow.
Duties
- Conduct preliminary eye exams and gather patient history, including vital signs and medical history.
- Assist optometrists during examinations by performing tests and procedures as directed.
- Manage front desk operations, including scheduling appointments and handling patient inquiries.
- Maintain accurate patient records and perform medical coding for billing purposes.
- Educate patients on proper contact lens care and eyewear options.
- Ensure a clean and aseptic environment in accordance with health regulations.
- Utilize electronic health record systems such as Epic for documentation and data management.
- Collaborate with team members to provide exceptional care, particularly in pediatric settings.
Experience
- Previous experience in patient care or as an optometric technician is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with medical coding practices is advantageous.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and retail math will enhance your effectiveness in this role.
- Experience with aseptic techniques is a plus, especially when working with pediatric patients.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages are essential.
