Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Billing Assistant and Front Desk Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors while managing accurate medical billing processes. Responsibilities
- Greet patients, visitors, and staff warmly, providing exceptional customer service and guiding them through check-in procedures
- Collect patient information, verify insurance details, and update medical records accurately within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
- Prepare and submit healthcare claims using billing software, ensuring proper coding with CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), and other relevant medical codes
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, perform medical collections when necessary, and communicate effectively with insurance companies to resolve billing issues
- Maintain detailed records of medical procedures, billing transactions, and patient interactions while adhering to confidentiality standards
- Assist with administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing phone calls, handling correspondence, and maintaining organized medical records
- Stay updated on healthcare claims management regulations, health insurance policies, and changes in medical coding standards to ensure compliance
Experience
- Prior experience working in a medical office environment or healthcare setting is highly preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and familiarity with billing software systems
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems used for documentation and billing processes
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare claims procedures
- Understanding of health insurance policies, medical coding practices including CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), DRG classifications, and billing procedures
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and insurance representatives
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy in all tasks
