As a Special Education Teacher (LBS1) in Forest Park, IL your days will Include:
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students with diverse learning, behavioral, and developmental needs in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliant IEPs, including writing measurable goals, documenting progress, and participating in annual reviews and eligibility meetings.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student success in the least restrictive environment.
- Differentiate instruction and implement appropriate accommodations and modifications to ensure students can access grade-level curriculum.
- Monitor student progress through ongoing assessment, data collection, and progress monitoring, adjusting instructional strategies as needed.
- Foster a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behavior, social-emotional growth, and academic achievement.
- Develop and implement behavior intervention strategies and support plans to encourage positive student outcomes.
- Maintain accurate student records, progress reports, and documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal special education regulations.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, staff meetings, professional development, and other school-related activities.
- Serve as a case manager for assigned students by coordinating services, communicating with families, and ensuring compliance with all special education requirements.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional practices and assistive technology to support students with varying abilities and learning styles.
- Advocate for students by promoting inclusive practices and collaborating with school staff to ensure equitable educational opportunities.
Job Details
- Position: Contract (option to renew for the following school year) in a school setting
- Hours: Full-time school hours (part-time candidates may be considered as well)
- Caseload: K-12th grade options are available in various classroom settings
Successful Candidates Possess
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related education field from an accredited college or university
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) required
- Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) Endorsement required (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date)
- Experience collaborating with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to collect and analyze student data to monitor progress and inform instruction
- Successful completion of all required background checks and district onboarding requirements
- The ability to work in the U.S. without a sponsor
