Expected Hours: 20–40 hours per week, depending on project volume and technician availability
Schedule: On-call / project-based, with hours depending on incoming work orders
Service Area: Arlington to Tacoma, WA
Company: SafeRoute Home Services
SafeRoute Home Services is looking for a highly skilled Residential Renovation & Repair Technician to complete residential repairs, rental unit turns, punch-list work, and small-to-mid-size renovation tasks for property management companies, real estate partners, and homeowners.
This is not an entry-level maintenance role. We are looking for someone with real hands-on construction experience who can work independently, move quickly, communicate clearly, and produce clean, professional results.
This position is similar to a senior handyman role, but the ideal candidate will have a stronger construction background, good judgment, and the ability to complete a wide range of residential repair scopes without constant supervision.
What You’ll Do
You will complete repair and make-ready scopes in vacant units, occupied homes, and residential renovation projects. Work may include:
- Drywall patching and texture repair
- Interior paint touch-ups and small paint scopes
- Door adjustments, locksets, hinges, and trim repairs
- Baseboards, casing, finish carpentry, and punch-list items
- Cabinet, fixture, and hardware repairs
- Minor flooring repairs
- Caulking, sealing, and general finish repairs
- Rental unit turns and make-ready work
- Small exterior repairs, such as deck or trim maintenance
- Material pickups when approved
- Photo documentation and brief job updates
This role does not include major HVAC, major electrical, or major plumbing work.
What We’re Looking For
The right person is someone who:
- Has strong hands-on residential construction or repair experience
- Can complete scopes independently without constant supervision
- Works quickly while still maintaining quality
- Communicates clearly throughout the job
- Sends photos, updates, and notes without needing repeated reminders
- Can identify problems before replacing parts unnecessarily
- Takes pride in clean, professional workmanship
- Is reliable, organized, and comfortable working in vacant units or occupied homes
- Can handle changing priorities and tight timelines
Required Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on residential repair, renovation, handyman, unit-turn, or remodeling experience preferred
- Applicants with fewer years may be considered if they can show strong independent repair or renovation experience
- Ability to complete common residential repairs independently
- Own basic hand tools and power tools
- Reliable vehicle and willingness to travel between job sites
- Smartphone for photos, updates, and communication
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical work
- Strong attention to detail
- Professional communication and reliability
Preferred Experience
- Apartment make-ready or rental unit turn experience
- Residential remodeling or renovation experience
- Finish carpentry or punch-list background
- Drywall repair and paint touch-up experience
- Experience working with property managers, real estate agents, or homeowners
- Ability to troubleshoot before recommending replacement
Pay & Logistics
Starting pay is $30/hour, with evaluation after the first 30 days and potential increase up to $35/hour based on experience, speed, communication, reliability, and quality of work.
This is a W-2 employee position, not a 1099 subcontractor role.
Travel time is paid after the first 30 minutes of driving, or upon arrival if sooner. Materials are paid for directly by the company.
Hours are based on incoming work orders and project volume. This is an on-call/project-based position with the potential for steady hours for the right technician.
Ideal Candidate
Our ideal technician is someone who could assist with a renovation project if needed, but is also willing and able to complete smaller repair tasks efficiently. You should be comfortable with a wide variety of residential repairs and able to keep work moving without constant oversight.
We value quality, speed, professionalism, and communication. Because communication is a major part of this role, technicians must be responsive and consistent with updates throughout the workday.
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
