- A minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post- secondary institution or career technical facility, an Associate’s Degree, or successful completion of the ParaPro assessment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of basic instructional methods and practices used in elementary and secondary education.
- Knowledge of child growth and development.
- Knowledge of reading, mathematics, and language arts instructional strategies.
- Knowledge of classroom management techniques and behavior support practices.
- Knowledge of federal Title I program requirements and objectives.
- Skill in providing academic support to individual students and small groups.
- Skill in assisting teachers with lesson preparation and instructional activities.
- Skill in monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate records.
- Skill in communicating effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and parents.
- Skill in using computers, educational technology, and office software applications.
- Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying academic needs.
- Ability to follow teacher directions and implement instructional plans consistently.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Ability to reinforce academic concepts and provide individualized support.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- Reliable transportation necessary.
- Minimal travel within the City of Lynchburg as needed.
