St. Peter's United Methodist Church in Katy, Texas, is looking for a Full Time Director of Children's Ministry for our Kingsland Campus.
The Director will help St. Peter's share God's love by building strong faith foundations for children from infancy to 5th grade, with a special focus on the growing diversity of our community. This role involves advocating for and ensuring the inclusion of children in all aspects of congregational life, worship, and ministries.
The Director will oversee Sunday morning programming, organizing weekday events, coordinating Vacation Bible School, and managing other ministry opportunities throughout the year in addition to the following responsibilities:
- Supervise and collaborate closely with the Children’s Ministries staff and volunteers, providing oversight and planning for all ministry activities.
- Recruit, train, equip, and support volunteers while coordinating schedules for all children’s ministry programs. Ensure substitutes are obtained and vacancies are filled as needed, and communicate promptly with volunteers.
- Facilitate interaction between Children’s Ministries and the larger church community.
- Develop and manage the annual budget for Children’s Ministries, including designated funds.
- Oversee communication with all staff, volunteers, and the broader community.
- Supervise, mentor, and oversee programming for the children's ministry staff.
- Recruit volunteers.
- Greet children, families, and teachers on Sunday mornings.
- Provide supervision, organizational support, and necessary supplies for Sunday School including helping to register and check in teachers and children.
- Attend, plan, and coordinate meetings with church staff, the children's team, Kids Council, church council, and the missions committee.
- Provide training and appreciation for volunteers.
- Prepare and monitor the children's ministries budget and designated funds.
- Lead teams in planning and executing special events throughout the year.
- Oversee the ordering of supplies and resources for children's ministry programs and events.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of prior experience in children's ministry.
- A background in the United Methodist Church is preferred.
- A college degree is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to multitask.
- Capable of working effectively with diverse personalities and age groups, including children and their families.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in volunteer recruitment.
- Proficient in computer and technology skills, including Teams.
- A team player with effective interpersonal skills.
- Ability to embrace the mission, vision, and values of St. Peter's Church.
Compensation:
- Full-time: $45,000-$50,000 annually based on experience and skills

General Schedule:
- 40 hours per week
- Sunday morning in-person worship services
- Weekly staff meeting
- Bi-weekly one-to-one with Executive Director
- Wednesday Night Children's Bible classes
