Senior Travel Demand Modeler

Job Description
Modern Mobility Partners, a full-service transportation planning firm founded in January 2018, is seeking a Senior Travel Demand Modeler to serve as a technical leader within our travel demand modeling practice. This is a hands-on role for someone who actively develops, calibrates, applies, and quality-checks travel demand models - not simply oversees them. You'll work closely with a team of planners and modelers, mentor junior staff, and serve as the senior technical point of contact on model development and maintenance engagements for clients.
Tasks may include but are not limited to:
- Lead transportation planning and technical activities, guiding junior and mid-level staff, managing technical direction, and quality assurance.
- Overseeing development, calibration, and validation of travel demand model architecture.
- Manage technical aspects of travel demand modeling projects from scoping to delivery.
- Translating complex technical modeling results into clear insights for clients and decision makers.
- Prepare and present technical memoranda and analysis reports to clients.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction.
- Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal oversight.
- Assist in developing proposals for RFPs and participate in strategy sessions.
- Assist with hiring and onboarding new modeling staff
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Urban and Regional/City planning, Civil Engineering, or Transportation Engineering
- 10+ years of professional travel demand modeling and/or data analytics experience
- Professional data analysis experience with at least one of the following tools: Excel/ACCESS/R/Python
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with travel demand modeling software, including Cube, VISUM, and/or TransCAD
- Activity-Based Modeling (ABM) methodology and application experience
- Advanced data analytics and machine learning applications to transportation modeling
- Programming/Scripting experience with Excel VBA, SQL, R, Python, etc.
- AICP or ability to attain within 1 year, or PE or ability to attain within 2 years
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $130,000.00 - $169,000.00 per year
