Lake Nona Surgery Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as both a Cath Lab Procedural Nurse and Circulating Nurse within our state-of-the-art cardiovascular ambulatory surgery center. This role is responsible for supporting interventional cardiology, peripheral vascular, electrophysiology, and cardiovascular procedures while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, clinical excellence, and procedural efficiency.
The ideal candidate possesses strong cardiovascular clinical knowledge, procedural nursing experience, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, physician-led environment. Candidates with experience in Cardiac Catheterization, Electrophysiology, CVICU, ICU, Interventional Radiology, Procedural Services, Recovery, or Ambulatory Surgery are strongly encouraged to apply.
Position Summary
The Cath Lab Registered Nurse / Circulating Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care throughout the procedural continuum, including pre-procedure assessment, intra-procedural circulating support, moderate sedation administration and monitoring, post-procedure recovery oversight, patient education, and discharge coordination. This position serves as a key member of the cardiovascular procedural team and collaborates closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, cardiovascular technologists, anesthesia personnel, and clinical support staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Circulating Nurse during cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, and interventional procedures.
- Administer and monitor moderate sedation in accordance with physician orders, facility protocols, and regulatory standards.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments prior to procedures and verify procedural readiness.
- Review patient history, laboratory results, diagnostic studies, medications, allergies, and procedural consents.
- Prepare procedure suites, equipment, supplies, medications, and emergency equipment for scheduled cases.
- Continuously monitor patient condition, cardiac rhythm, oxygenation, hemodynamic status, and response to sedation throughout procedures.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to procedural complications, changes in patient condition, and emergency situations.
- Accurately document nursing assessments, medications, procedural events, patient responses, and recovery outcomes within the electronic medical record.
- Provide post-procedure monitoring, recovery care, discharge instructions, and patient education.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, accreditation readiness activities, infection prevention programs, and patient safety initiatives.
- Support emergency response activities and code situations as necessary.
- Maintain compliance with AAAHC, CMS, AHCA, OSHA, HIPAA, and facility policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) License in good standing.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Current ACLS Certification.
- Experience administering and monitoring moderate sedation.
- Knowledge of cardiovascular medications, emergency response protocols, and rhythm interpretation.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and clinical assessment skills.
Minimum of two years of recent nursing experience in one or more of the following settings:
- Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
- Electrophysiology Laboratory
- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Critical Care or Intensive Care Unit
- Interventional Radiology
- Procedural Services
- Ambulatory Surgery Center
- Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Cath Lab experience.
- Previous ambulatory surgery center experience.
- Experience supporting peripheral vascular interventions.
- Experience supporting electrophysiology procedures.
- Experience with hemodynamic monitoring systems.
- RCIS, CCRN, CVRN, or other cardiovascular specialty certification.

Experience
Cath Lab, Cardiovascular, Critical Care, ICU, CVICU, Interventional Radiology, Electrophysiology, Procedural Nursing, or Ambulatory Surgery Experience: 2 years preferred.
