Overview
We are a busy, fast-paced dog daycare and boarding facility dedicated to providing a safe, clean, and enriching environment for every dog in our care. Our team takes pride in creating a positive experience for both our canine guests and their owners through exceptional care, professionalism, and teamwork.
Position Overview
This is a true leadership position—not simply a shift lead. Our Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the facility, ensuring the safety and well-being of every dog, leading and developing our team, and maintaining the high standards our clients have come to expect.
Success in this role requires developing an in-depth understanding of each dog's personality, play style, and individual needs, as well as building relationships with our clients and learning the routines that make our facility successful. We recognize that this knowledge takes time to develop, so we're looking for someone who is eager to learn, exercises sound judgment, and is committed to growing into a long-term leadership role.
The ideal candidate is passionate about dogs, thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys mentoring others, and isn't afraid to make confident decisions when situations change throughout the day.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the daycare and boarding facility.
- Lead, coach, and support staff while fostering a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.
- Create, supervise, and adjust dog playgroups throughout the day by evaluating each dog's temperament, play style, size, and energy level, using sound judgment to maintain safe, balanced, and enriching group interactions while proactively preventing conflicts.
- Continuously monitor dog behavior and intervene appropriately to maintain a safe environment.
- Train and mentor new employees while reinforcing company policies and standards.
- Assign daily responsibilities and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and thoroughly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary facility that exceeds company standards.
- Communicate professionally with pet owners regarding their dogs' care, behavior, and stay.
- Assist with check-in/check-out, feeding, medication administration (when applicable), and daily animal care.
- Handle customer concerns with professionalism and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies, dog altercations, and unexpected situations.
- Maintain accurate records of dog behavior, medications, incidents, and client communications.
- Help identify opportunities to improve operations, team performance, and the overall client experience.
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience required preferred.
- Professional experience working in a dog daycare, boarding facility, veterinary clinic, grooming salon, animal shelter, or similar animal care environment is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of canine body language, behavior, and safe group play management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Strong knowledge of animal care practices including animal restraint and behavior management
